Company looking to score volumes in the premium segments.
In an interview with ET Auto, Hyundai Motor India Ltd’s (HMIL) Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing Mr. Rakesh Srivastava confirmed that the new Hyundai Tucson and ‘another product’ in the INR 10-20 lakh segment will launch in the country this year.
With the two products, Mr Srivastava is confident that the company will score volumes in the premium segment, toppling leaders such as the Toyota Fortuner and Toyota Innova. The Tucson will slot between the Hyundai Creta and Hyundai Santa Fe, and is expected to be priced between 18-25 Lakhs.
The engine lineup may include both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol variant could be powered by a 2.0-liter MPi engine with 157 PS and 196 Nm of torque, while the diesel model is likely to pack a 2.0L (1,995 cc) four-cylinder turbo-diesel that produces 178 PS and 400 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic, while Hyundai’s Active On-Demand AWD system could be optional.
As for the Hyundai Elantra, it is expected to launch in mid-2016. The 2016 Hyundai Elantra’s engine choices will include two petrol units and one diesel unit. The petrol engines will be the 1.6-litre GDi and 2.0-litre MPi, while the diesel engine will be the 1.6-litre VGT CRDi unit. A 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic transmission and a 7-speed DCT are likely to be the transmission options.
