Likely to be brought into India via the CKD route.
Hyundai India has presented the Hyundai Tucson at the Auto Expo 2016. The new Tucson is expected to arrive in showrooms across India after June 2016. The automaker has confirmed the vehicle for the Indian market stating that it is a "significant step forward for the future SUV lineup."
The India-spec Tucson is likely to be introduced only with a diesel engine. In Korea, the Tucson packs a 2.0L (1,995 cc) four-cylinder turbo-diesel that produces 136 KW (182 hp) and 400 Nm of torque. This variant is available exclusively with Hyundai’s Active On-Demand AWD system and a six-speed automatic transmission.
The Tucson will be positioned between the popular Hyundai Creta and the company's flagship model, the Hyundai Santa Fe in the Indian market. Apparently, Hyundai had fast-tracked the launch of the Tucson according to a report. It will be locally assembled at the company's plant in Chennai with CKD kits from Czech Republic or Korea.
A media report said that Hyundai expects to sell 20,000 to 30,000 units of the Tucson a year. It will rival the Mahindra XUV500, Tata Safari Storme and the upcoming Tata Hexa.
We're awaiting details of the India-spec Tucson.
