At Auto Expo 2016, Hyundai showcased the 2016 Hyundai Tucson and 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, and the former is reportedly hitting the market in the second half of this year. The sixth generation Hyundai Elantra, which was spotted testing in India by a reader a few weeks ago, wasn't showcased at the biennial show, but it's on HMIL's business plan.
According to a report from CarWale, the 2016 Hyundai Elantra will be launched in India in mid-2016.
The report says that the 2016 Hyundai Elantra's engine choices will include two petrol units and one diesel unit. The petrol engines will be the 1.6-litre GDi and 2.0-litre MPi, while the diesel engine will be the 1.6-litre VGT CRDi unit. The 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 128 hp and 156 lb.-ft. (211 Nm) of torque in the U.S.-spec model won't be offered in India.
The Hyundai Elantra petrol will feature a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission, as per the report. The Hyundai Elantra diesel should be offered with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission as standard, while a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission will be optional. The all-new model will be manufactured in India, a previous report said.
