Datsun redi-GO 1.0, Datsun redi-GO AMT planned - Report

To source 1.0L engine and AMT unit from Renault Kwid.

The Datsun redi-GO will get the 1L engine and AMT option from the Renault Kwid later in its lifecycle, reports Autocar Professional. At launch however, the only engine option available is a 0.8-liter engine paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The 1.0L engine and AMT unit will be available for the Renault Kwid in the coming months. As of now, they haven't revealed the tech spec or prices of the new variant. Expect details to crop up closer to its launch date.

Datsun also haven't revealed the output figures of the 0.8L engine, but claims that it will have the best-in-class fuel mileage and good engine response. A report suggests that it will weigh around 24 kg lighter than the Renault Kwid.

The redi-GO is 3,430 mm long, and has a slightly better wheelbase and height than the Kwid. It features the familiar hexagonal grille, large angular headlamps, separate LED DRLs on the bumper, vertical taillamps, contoured tailgate and separate reflectors on the lower bumper. The A-Segment urban crossover has a best-in-class ground clearance of 185 mm.
