First sub-4m sedan from Volkswagen India.
According to Zigwheel's sources, the VW Ameo is expected to launch in the country in June 2016. If the report is true, it appears that the launch date has been advanced, since VW executives had confirmed that it will arrive in showrooms from early-H2 2016.
The Ameo is VW's first ever sub-4m sedan developed to tap into the growing demand for compact sedans. It is based on the PQ25 platform that underpins the VW Polo hatchback. The exterior is largely similar to the Polo, save for the boot and taillamps.
Inside, the compact sedan gets a dual tone black and beige interior, silver trim on the centre console, multifunction 3-spoke steering wheel and a 6.5 inch touchscreen infotainment system in top-end grades.
