Not confirmed for India.
Hyundai has unveiled the all-new Hyundai Sonata at the Auto Expo 2016, in its hybrid form. The variant went on sale in North America just last year and would rival the Toyota Camry Hybrid and the Honda Accord Hybrid in India, if and when launched.
The 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid features subtle styling tweaks that help give it a distinctive look, and more essentially, enhanced aerodynamics and efficiency. In the USA, the Sonata Plug-in Hybrid uses a six-speed automatic transmission teamed up with Hyundai’s Transmission-Mounted Electrical Device (TMED), a 50 kW electric motor, in place of a torque converter. A 2.0-liter Nu four-cylinder GDI engine coupled with it produces 154 hp. Together, it generates 202 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and delivers an expected mileage of 38.26 km/l.
The car's recharge time ranges from under three hours at a 240V Level-Two charging station to under nine hours using a standard 120V outlet.
Noteworthy features of the 2016 Hyundai Sonata Plug-in Hybrid (USA spec) include HID Xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED tail lights, driver seat with power adjustable lumbar support and memory, 8.0-inch navigation system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration and Infinity premium audio system.
