Will be introduced in models affected by Supreme Court's ban.
Autocar reports that Tata Motors will soon introduce a sub-2.0L diesel engine for models affected by the Supreme Court's ruling which banned the registration of passenger vehicles in NCR packing diesel engines that displace 2.0-litres (2000 cc) and above.
This follows the step Mahindra has taken to put back the XUV500 and Scorpio back on sale in Delhi NCR - by introducing a smaller 1.99L mHawk diesel engine. It's unclear if Tata will rebore the cylinders to displace below 2.0-liters or introduce a new engine altogether.
Currently, the models affected include the Tata Safari Storme and Tata Xenon, and the Tata Hexa will also join the club as it was confirmed to pack a 2.2-liter Varicor diesel engine at its debut. However, the current ban extends until March 31, 2016, and it remains to be seen if the ruling is extended thereafter.

So far, Tata Motors has not confirmed the exact displacement or finer details on the revised Varicor engines for the affected models. An announcement of its introduction could be made soon.
