The Safari Storme VariCOR 400 is powered by the same 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel engine, but its tuned to produce 156 PS at 4,000 rpm and 400 Nm at 1,750-2,500 rpm. This is 6 PS and 80 Nm higher than the regular Safari Storme.
Also, the Storme VariCOR 400 gets a new 6-speed manual transmission as against the regular Storme's 5-speed shifter. According to the company, compared to the regular Storme, the VariCOR 400 is 0.5 second quicker in acceleration from 0-60 km/h and 1 second quicker in the 0-100 km/h sprint.
The VariCOR 400 is available exclusively on the VX trim, in 4x2 and 4x4 guises. The Safari Storme VariCOR 4x2 is priced at INR 13.25 lakhs whereas the 4x4 costs INR 14.59 lakhs, ex-Showroom, New Delhi. The VariCOR 400 costs about INR 15,000 more than the regular Storme VX.

The Safari Storme VariCOR 400 offers features such as dual front airbags, ABS and EBD, manual AC, steering mounted audio controls, a Harman Bluetooth-enabled music system, reverse parking sensors, projector headlights and rear AC.
