No power difference in comparison to the 2.2-liter unit.
Mahindra is showcasing the current Mahindra Scorpio with an updated 1.99-liter diesel engine at the Auto Expo 2016, following its announcement on January 22, 2016.
The new diesel engine was introduced in the new Scorpio and XUV500 due to the Supreme court's ban of registering diesel-powered cars with engine displacements over 2000 cc in Delhi NCR. Mr Pravin Shah, president and chief executive, Mahindra, stated that development work on the 1.99-liter engine began in August 2014, well before the Supreme Court’s ruling.
The 1997 cc mHawk diesel engine outputs 120 bhp at 4000 rpm and 280 Nm between 1800-2800 rpm, which is similar to the performance of the outgoing 2.2-liter engine. The new engine is only available with a 5-speed manual transmission, while the automatic transmission option is only available for the S10 2.2-liter unit.
The Mahindra Scorpio with the 1.99-litre mHawk diesel engine is available in S4, S4+, S6+, S8 and S10 trim levels. The range-topping S10 trim level comes equipped with added features like micro-hybrid (engine start-stop) system, static bending projector headlamps with LED signature lighting, silver painted skid plate, foglamps, alloy wheels, LED taillamps, rear spoiler, rain and light sensors, cruise control, automatic climate control and 6-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
