May not be launched in India.
The Mahindra e2o, which is currently available only as a two-door model, has been spied in a four-door configuration, by a Team-BHP reader Karthik Duraisamy. The model was spotted on the Bangalore-Hosur highway.
Beneath the heavy camouflage on the four-door electric car, it is reported that the proportions appear to be the same as on the two-door version, but for the comparably longer rear section. The tail lamp cluster is claimed to have been redesigned and moved upwards. The instrument cluster is said to have been unaltered, suggesting that the four-door version will just be a variant extension and not bring about an overhaul of the entire car.
The regular e2o is powered by a 19 kW (25.47 bhp) motor that produces 53.9 Nm of torque giving it a range of 120 km and a top speed of 81 km/h. It comes with features like power steering, music system, reverse camera, and electric ORVMs. The four-door version is likely to keep these features, gain an uprated battery and motor, and could benefit from the Mahindra’s Quick2Charge technology.
In mid-October, Dr. Pawan Goenka, the Executive Director of Mahindra & Mahindra, revealed that the company is working on a four-door variant of the Mahindra e2o solely for exports to the European markets. This spied prototype seems to be the very model Dr. Goenka was talking about. The company is working on setting up a distribution centre in the UK for the e2o before it is unveiled in the June-July period of 2016.
