In a recent interview to the Economic Times Pravin Shah, Mahindra & Mahindra's president and chief executive for the company's automotive division, divulged that the company is set to launch two products in the current financial year, without identifying them. While one of these is bound to be the Mahindra S101 (Mahindra XUV100), we believe the other is the facelift of the Mahindra Quanto compact SUV.
The upgraded Quanto is a substantial update to the Quanto. While the vehicle will receive a host of updates on the exterior and the interior, on the engine-side it is likely to receive the updated version of the 1.5-liter three-cylinder diesel engine that currently does duty on the Mahindra TUV300. The SUV is also confirmed to receive the Mahindra's autoSHIFT technology (AMT) that was displayed at the 2014 Auto Expo. The car shown also had regenerative braking technology.
The other vehicle in question is the Mahindra S101 compact SUV, which is the company's second monocoque vehicle that is set to take on B-Segment hatchbacks from Maruti and Hyundai. Recently, the vehicle was spied with minimal camouflage revealing details about its rear and door designs.
