Will be unveiled before end of July 2016.
Dr. Pawan Goenka, the Executive Director of Mahindra & Mahindra, has revealed that the company is developing a four-door variant of the Mahindra e2o electric vehicle specifically for exporting to the European markets.
The four-door e2o is expected to be unveiled during the June-July period of 2016, by which time the company would be done setting up a distribution centre in the UK for this model.
He mentioned that the Indian government's Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (FAME) initiative is helping the company improve their focus on the electric car segment in India, and that sales of the e2o doubled after the policy was adopted. "The sale of these cars depends a lot on the state governments' policy towards greener and cleaner vehicles," he added.
Mahindra has signed a deal with Lithium, a Bengaluru-based start-up that rents out electric cars, to provide cars for its fleet. Goenka revealed that Lithium has already purchased 50 units of Mahindra e2o and has booked 50 more.
