To target pre-family buyers.
The Datsun Redi-Go has been snapped in Chennai by IAB reader Gokulraj GK, the COO of MyCopie notebooks. The model appears to retain the visual traits of its concept that was revealed at the 2014 Auto Expo.
The Datsun Redi-Go is the alter ego of the Renault Kwid as they are based on the CMF-A platform. However that is where the similarities end, as the Redi-Go would have a completely different exterior and interior. It will be the second product from the Renault-Nissan Alliance that will compete with the Maruti Alto 800, after the Renault Kwid.
IAB had learnt that the Datsun Redi-Go is to be powered by a new petrol engine and not the 0.8 litre SCe engine that powers the Renault Kwid. The latter produces 54 PS of maximum power at 5,678 rpm and 72 Nm of peak torque at 4,386 rpm, and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. An AMT is another strong possibility, considering that the Kwid is waiting to receive the same tech.

The sources also mentioned that the Datsun Redi-Go will be launched in the current financial year, which indicates that it could be launched or unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo in Greater Noida in February, or prior to it. Slotting under the Datsun Go, the Redi-Go will be priced below INR 3 lakhs.
