Reported to be launched by March 2016, the production version of the Datsun Redi-Go has been snapped testing again, in Chennai. The Redi-Go will be the second product from the Renault-Nissan Alliance to challenge the segment-dominating Maruti Alto 800 and the Hyundai Eon in India.
The Datsun Redi-Go is based on the same CMF-A platform that underpins the Kwid. On the Kwid, Renault uses an all-new 800 cc three cylinder engine that churns out 54 PS of maximum power at 5,678 rpm and 72 Nm of peak torque at 4,386 rpm, paired to a 5MT.

According to sources, the Datsun Redi-Go could be powered by a new engine, and not the same 800 cc unit found in the Kwid.
Officials of the company have confirmed that the market launch of the third Datsun for India will take place this financial year. Datsun could use the forthcoming Auto Expo 2016 to conduct the launch.
