Datsun today unveiled its global small crossover concept 'redi-GO' that will act as a precursor to upcoming Datsun models.
The redi-GO combines Datsun's now familiar grille, mixing a five-door hatchback's practicality with a rugged SUV stance. The concept previews a potential small car for the Indian market, positioned below the Go.
Koji Nagano, executive design director for Datsun said that whilst developing the redi-GO, the keywords included a modern and solid design that appeared contemporary and substantial. The redi-GO gets short overhangs and crossover-style raised body and twin character lines running from the front to the rear.
The concept also gets modern headlights that incorporates narrow daytime running lights and the rear LED taillights feature an "idiosyncratic" twist of light to give the concept a unique visual signature whilst on the move. LED foglight strips are fully integrated into the bumper.
The redi-GO features 15-inch alloy wheels and has a wheelbase of 2,350 mm.
Vincent Cobee, global head of Datsun was careful in saying that if a car like the redi-GO was to be produced, it would be a segment creator in India. The concept, he said, shows how serious Datsun is about reinvigorating the market.
