The market launch of the YBA will take place this financial year, sources confirmed to IAB.

The YBA will be introduced in the market this financial year with a debut taking place at the Auto Expo 2016, in the first week of February 2016. It will slot below the Maruti S-Cross, and rival competitors such as the Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300.

Under the hood, the YBA will borrow its engines from the Swift, which include the 1.2-liter K-Series petrol and the 1.3-liter DDiS diesel engine. Maruti could choose to offer its CVT gearbox with the petrol engine in a bid to appeal to owners who are primarily looking for an urban runabout. The YBA’s rivals, the EcoSport and the TUV300, are available with an automatic transmission or an automated manual transmission in the case of the TUV300.
