Targets European sales of over 40,000 units per year.
Toyota has unveiled the Euro-spec 2015 Toyota Hilux, which carries over the changes introduced in the Thai-spec Toyota Hilux that premiered on May 21.
The latest Hilux sits on an all new QDR platform that has increased rigidity and strength over the outgoing model. Toyota has equipped it with a list of active safety features that include Active Traction Control (A-TRC), Downhill Assist Control (DAC) and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) for better 4x4 capabilities.
The exterior sports a large set of projector headlamps with DRLs that flow into a trapezoidal 3-slat grille, clamshell bonnet, updated wheel arch design, redesigned set of taillamps and a new handle-bar.
The interior of the Hilux is a bigger departure from its predecessor. Toyota has scrapped the utilitarian design for a more car-like interior with enhanced comfort and features. Top-end variants will get a large “floating” touchscreen display, push button start, automatic climate control, steering-mounted controls and leather upholstery.
Under the hood, the new Hilux will be offered with two diesel engine options: a 2.4-liter D-4D with 150 hp and 400 Nm of torque, and a 2.8-liter D-4D with 177 hp and 450 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic, while a 4x4 system will be exclusive to higher variants.
