To be launched in Q1 2016.
The 2016 Proton Perdana has been snapped up-close by a PaulTan.org reader, Lim Zheng Liang. It is deduced to be one of the entry-level variants, based on its regular, reflector-type headlamps (the higher variants get projector head lights as revealed by the official teaser), simpler alloy wheel design, apparently only a mono exhaust outlet against the twin tail pipes on the preview model.
The 2016 version can be characterised by the above as well as a pair of full-LED tail lights, a higher rake of the rear windshield, revised window line, and new door handles.
The powertrain of the Honda Accord-based sedan would retain Honda's R20A3 2.0-litre engine that produces 154 hp maximum power and 189 Nm peak torque, and the K24Z2 2.4-litre i-VTEC motor that churns out 177 hp and 222 Nm. Both the powerplants will be offered with a five-speed automatic transmission.
The new model is set to be launched in the first quarter of 2016. It will be manufactured at Proton’s Medium Volume Factory in Shah Alam, along with the Exora MPV, and unlike the current version, will be available to civilians.
