Will roll out shortly after YRA/Baleno premium hatchback.
The Maruti YBA (codename) was spotted on Indian roads yet again, ahead of a launch which will take place in early-2016.
Following the S-Cross which was launched last month, with prices ranging from INR 8.34 lakhs to INR 13.74 lakhs, ex-Showroom, Delhi, the YBA is set to occupy the INR 5.5-9 lakh segment, targeting the likes of the Ford EcoSport and the forthcoming Mahindra TUV300.
Where the S-Cross is powered only by diesel engines, the YBA will come with a petrol and a diesel engine, sources told Indian Autos Blog. The petrol engine would be the 1.2-liter K-Series which does duty on the Swift, and the diesel engine will be the tried-and-tested 1.3-liter Fiat-sourced Multijet engine.
Further, the YBA can also be expected with the SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) technology which was introduced on the Ciaz, in a bid to give it an edge over competitors like the EcoSport.
When launched, the YBA, much like the S-Cross, could be sold only through the NEXA chain of dealerships, which currently cater only to the S-Cross. Maruti officials hinted that new products will be added to its NEXA outlets, and the YRA (which will be called the Suzuki Baleno for European markets) and YBA are strong contenders here.
