Maruti S-Cross launched, prices start from INR 8.34 Lakhs – IAB Report [Gallery Updated]

Maruti-Suzuki India Limited has finally launched its flagship Maruti S-Cross crossover in Delhi today. It will be available with a choice between two diesel engines across 7 different trims. Prices (ex showroom, Delhi) for each trim are posted below:

DDiS 200

  • Maruti S-Cross DDiS 200 Sigma – INR 8.34 Lakhs
  • Maruti S-Cross DDiS 200 Delta – INR 9.15 Lakhs
  • Maruti S-Cross DDiS 200 Zeta – INR 9.99 Lakhs
  • Maruti S-Cross DDiS 200 Alpha – INR 10.75 Lakhs

DDiS 320

  • Maruti S-Cross DDiS 320 Delta – INR 11.99 Lakhs
  • Maruti S-Cross DDiS 320 Zeta –   INR 12.99 Lakhs
  • Maruti S-Cross DDiS 320 Alpha – INR 13.74 Lakhs

Maruti S-Cross front launched in Delhi

Offering an all-diesel engine lineup, the entry-level motor is a 1.3-litre diesel unit (dubbed as the DDiS 200), which produces 89 bhp and 200 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox. At an ARAI-certified rating of 23.65 km/L, it is the most fuel-efficient variant in the range.

The S-Cross is Maruti’s first ever product to feature a 1.6-litre DDiS 320 diesel engine fitted with a variable geometry turbocharger. It is capable of 120 PS and 320 Nm of torque, and is paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The ARAI-certified fuel consumption is rated at 22.7 km/l.

Given the increased awareness towards passenger safety, all 7 variants will come with disc brakes supplemented by ABS at all four wheels, and dual airbags as standard.

Other equipment available in higher trims include Electric folding ORVMs, Automatic Climate control, rear center armrest, parcel tray, Smartplay infotainment system and push-button start/stop, cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, automatic projector headlamps, 16-inch alloy wheels and leather upholstery.

Based on a brand new platform, the Maruti S-Cross measures 4,300 mm long, 1,765 mm wide, 1,590 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. To tackle Indian road conditions, the ground clearance is rated at 180 mm (unladen).

Maruti S-Cross rear three quarter launched in Delhi

The S-Cross will be positioned in the compact SUV segment, which comprise of the recently launched Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and the Mahindra Scorpio.

    Compete with Duster / Terrano looks and presence??? Definitely not! This looks more like an i20 – priced steep!

    and IMPOSING Road Presence Dwarfs all other So Called Crossovers manufactured in India

    This is neither premium nor VFM. Its overpriced and might not sell well. For someone looking for SUV, would pick Creta/Duster/Ecosport. Someone looking for sedan would buy City/Ciaz. This is neither here nor there.

    Now a days people want crossovers with SUV looks something like Ecoposport or Duster. These 2 cars are not proper SUVs but crossovers. Not sure whats Maruti Suzuki’s idea about this car.

    If 1.3 priced 50k lower, and 1.6 priced 2 lakhs lower, it would sell. Considering people are willing to spend money on big hatches (i20/Jazz etc).

    Another concern is, how 1.3 can manage with the weight of this car which is heavier than Ciaz.
