Will be powered by the Maruti Swift's engines.
Maruti Suzuki's response to the burgeoning compact crossover segment, codenamed Maruti YBA, is expected to be launched in India in early 2016. Based on the spyshots of the Maruti YBA's prototypes, our in-house artist, Shoeb R Kalania, has rendered the front fascia of the sub-4 metre crossover.
Penned with the design cues of the Maruti XA Alpha and the Suzuki iV-4 concepts, the Maruti YBA is set to be a direct rival to the pioneer of the compact crossover segment in India, the Ford EcoSport. It will also be a competitor to the just-launched Mahindra TUV300 and the upcoming Range Rover Evoque inspired, sub-4 metre SUV from Tata Motors, the Tata Nexon, which will be launched in the next fiscal.

To be slotted in the INR 5.5-9 lakh price segment, the Maruti YBA compact SUV is expected to be powered by the engines doing duty in the Maruti Swift hatchback. These include the 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine and the 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced Multijet diesel engine. In higher variants, Maruti could introduce the Ertiga's 1.4-liter K-Series engine, and provide the option of an AMT.
