Second monocoque product for Mahindra.
The Mahindra S101 (codename) is one of two compact SUVs promised by the Indian UV major this year. The other model, which will come to be known as the TUV300 will launch on September 10, featuring a ladder-frame platform and seating for seven occupants.
The S101 though will rely on a brand-new monocoque platform with a front-wheel drive layout, and if reports are to be believed, it will be branded the Mahindra XUV100. A website by the name 'www.mahindraxuv100.com' has already been registered to Mahindra's office in Mahindra Towers, Worli, Mumbai, further suggesting that this is indeed the name of the product.
Power for the XUV100 is reported to come from three-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, the former being an all-new 1.2-liter unit. Like the TUV300, the XUV100 could also get manual and automated manual transmissions, with a 2WD layout only.
Interior spyshots have shown the XUV100 to get a bench-type seat up front, a console mounted gearlever, a stacked center console with manual AC, a 2-DIN music system and a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel.

When launched, the XUV100 will rival B-segment hatchbacks like the Maruti Swift, the forthcoming Ford Figo, the Hyundai Grand i10 and the Nissan Micra.
