Launch in late September or early October.
Following reports that the assembly of the new Land Rover Discovery Sport is in full swing at JLR's facility in Pune, pre-orders for the Freelander 2-successor are now being accepted at dealerships. This was conveyed by an email received by Team-BHP member, karan561.
The same user has also uploaded an image of the India-spec Discovery Sport spotted up-close. With black plastic mirrors and lower front fascia, and basic 17 inch multi spoke alloy wheels, this appears to be the entry-level trim of Discovery Sport.
The Land Rover Discovery Sport measures 4,599 mm in length, 2,173 mm in width, 1,724 mm in height and 2,741 mm in wheelbase. When launched, it will be the first mid-size luxury SUV in the segment to offer a 5+2 seating option.
Reports suggest that the India-spec Discovery Sport will be powered by the older 2.2-liter Ford-sourced diesel motor offered in two power states: 147 bhp and 187 bhp. Both come paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission with a full-time 4WD and Terrain Response as standard.

The Land Rover Discovery Sport will launch as a CKD model right from the start, which should help in competitively pricing it against the likes of Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Volvo XC60 in the Indian market.
