Expected to launch by the end of this year.
According to a report from Rushlane, JLR have commenced CKD assembly of the Land Rover Discovery Sport at its factory in Pune, which currently rolls out the Range Rover Evoque, and lower variants of the Jaguar XJ and XF.
The Freelander 2-successor is expected to launch in the next 2-3 months, and will be sold as CKD models right from the beginning. The report states that Land Rover will initially offer the older 2.2-liter SD4 at launch, while JLR's 2.0-liter Ingenium diesel range will be introduced at a later stage.
The 2.2-liter Ford-sourced diesel motor will be offered in two power states: 147 bhp and 187 bhp, and both come paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission with 4WD and Land Rover's Terrain Response as standard.
