The Creta, based on the ix25, is expected to measure 4.27 meters in length.

The Creta, announced as Hyundai's global compact SUV, will first launch in India on July 21, 2015. While HMIL have not outlined the export markets for the Creta, Mr. Srivastava says that India-made Hyundai cars are in demand in South Africa, Australia, Vietnam, Mexico and Colombia.

The Creta is expected to launch in India with a 1.4-liter diesel engine, and 1.6-liter petrol and diesel engines, borrowed from the Verna. These engines will be paired to manual and automatic transmissions, images have confirmed.

Identical in looks to the ix25 sold in China, the Creta will rival the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and the forthcoming Maruti S-Cross in India.
