Global premiere in India.
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) will launch its global compact SUV, the Hyundai Creta, on July 21, 2015, a spokesperson told Indian Autos Blog. The Indian launch will mark the world premiere of the Creta, which is also expected to be sold in international markets such as South Africa, Europe, Australia and other South East Asian countries.
The Creta is based on the Hyundai ix25 which is presently available only in the Chinese market. When launched it will rival the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and top-end variants of the Ford EcoSport on price.
The Creta is expected to be powered by the 1.6-liter VTVT petrol and the 1.6-liter CRDi diesel engine also seen on the Verna, the latter getting a 6-speed manual transmission. Additional, a base variant with a 1.4-liter CRDi diesel engine could also be seen. According to a report, the Creta will come with manual and automatic transmissions, though it remains to be seen if it gets AWD capability.
