Reports point out to a 100 kg weight loss thanks to the new MLB Evo platform.

Shedding a sizable 100 kg over the current generation model, the new A4 rides on the MLB Evo platform, and based on spyshots, appears a tad larger than the model it will replace. The headlight clusters will get an unconventional kink - unseen on an Audi model till date - while the taillights remind one of the smaller Audi A3 Sedan. Audi's new Singleframe grille, seen on the new Q7 and R8, will make an appearance on the car.

For the interior, Audi has taken a page from the new Q7's cabin, as spyshots have shown the new A4 to sport a stubby gearlever, a slim MMI display, a minimalist center console and the new Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster. Audi will continue to offer a long wheelbase version exclusive to the Chinese market.

Upon launch, the new A4 in Europe is expected to be offered in 13 engine options, with a diminutive 1.4-liter TFSI engine and a 1.6-liter TDI engine starting the petrol and diesel range respectively. The current gen A4 will be among the last Audi models to come with the Multitronic CVT gearbox, as the 2016 A4 is expected with a 9-speed automatic transmission apart from a 6-speed manual.
