Indian launch expected by year end.
The forthcoming 2016 Audi Q7 continues testing in Mumbai, ahead of an Indian launch expected to take place by the end of this year. Unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show last month, the new Q7 is yet to enter production globally, let alone have a market launch.
Audi say that the second generation of its flagship SUV comes with a weight saving of 325 kg thanks to the new MLB platform which uses high-strength steel and aluminium. It measures a sizable 5.05 metres in length, 1.97 meters in width 1.74 meters in height and 2.99 meters in wheelbase.
For now, only two engine options have been announced for the new Q7, both being six-cylinder 3.0-liter units. The petrol engine makes 333 hp and 440 Nm of torque while the diesel puts out 272 hp and 600 Nm of torque. Audi says that the diesel is about 26 percent more efficient, and the petrol 23 percent more efficient, than the outgoing model. An 8-speed automatic transmission channels power to all wheels through the Quattro AWD system.
