Will be based on the Lamborghini Huracan's platform.
Audi has released the first teaser image of the all-new Audi R8, ahead of a debut expected to take place at the Geneva Motor Show next month. Prior to this teaser, a couple of spyshots of the new R8 revealed the supercar in full.
The second generation R8 can be optionally specified with Laser headlights, while LED headlights will be standard fitment. The company has not divulged any other information on the supercar, but says the mid-engined R8 will "set new standards among high-performance sports cars".
The new R8 is expected to be based on the Lamborghini Huracan's platform, and would be offered with two engine options, and for the first time, an all-electric e-tron variant. The new R8 e-tron is reported to have a range exceeding 400 km.
For the second generation R8, Audi will be offering only a dual-clutch gearbox (likely a 7-speed unit), and the 6-speed manual be no longer be seen. The more powerful R8 should use the Huracan's 5.2-liter V10, though power and torque outputs remain a secret.
