Launch expected this year.
It's no secret that the Tata Kite (and sedan) is set to reach the market later this year, following the Bolt hatchback which is scheduled for a January 22 launch.
The Kite, as we know, is based on a modified version of the platform that underpins the Indica. It's expected to be a huge improvement over that, both in terms of mechanicals as well as aesthetics. As for the looks, the report mentions that the design will be inspired by the MegaPixel concept. The headlamps will merge into the honeycomb mesh grille, while at the rear, the hatchback will get wraparound taillamps. The Kite-based sedan (one that will replace the Indigo eCS) will draw inspiration from the recently introduced Zest compact sedan.
While the final design of interior isn't known yet, the cabin is expected to be better put together, and sportier-looking than the Indica's. It will have a dual-tone treatment for the upholstery, a white-backlit instrument panel with MID (multi information display), and plenty of satin-finish inserts, says the report.
As reported earlier, the Kite sedan and hatchback duo will be offered with a range of newly developed engines: a 1.05-litre diesel unit and a 1.2-litre petrol. The turbocharged, 3-cylinder diesel is expected to make maximum power and torque in the vicinity of 64 hp and 142 Nm.
