Could get a more powerful 1.5-liter diesel engine.
Seen here is a rendering of Maruti's sub-4 meter compact SUV, codenamed 'YBA'. The YBA has already started testing in India, and this rendering is closely based on available spyshots.
Design inspiration for the YBA will come from the Maruti XA-Alpha concept showcased at the Auto Expo in 2012. That aside, the YBA will also borrow cues from the iv-4 concept which has now spawned into the Vitara SUV.
Maruti plans to launch the YBA in the first quarter of 2016, possibly a debut at the Auto Expo which happens to be India's largest automobile show visited by over a half a million this year alone. The EcoSport-rivaling YBA will be offered with petrol and diesel engines, the latter is reported to be a 1.5-liter unit. Also, the YBA will come in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive guises which is a first-in-class feature (for the sub-4m segment).
The compact SUV, said to be a top-hat on the Swift platform, will be packed with equipment such as daytime running lights, alloy wheels, electrically adjustable and folding wing mirrors, multifunction steering wheel, a Bluetooth-enabled music system, Maruti's SmartPlay infotainment system, reverse parking sensors, and at least dual airbags with ABS and EBD.
