Ford of Brazil commenced production of the new Ford Ka (the next generation Ford Figo for India) at its factory in Camacari, Bahia, Brazil. Brazilian sales of the hatchback will start in September this year, Ford says in the press release.
The first Ka to be made at this plant was the base SE model in an Arctic White color powered by the three-cylinder 1.0-liter Flex-fuel engine producing 85 PS (83.8 bhp) and 107 Nm of torque and paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. A more powerful 1.5-liter engine is also reported to be in the offing in the future.
For the Brazilian market, the new Ka is available in two variants. The base SE is priced at 35,390 BRL (INR 9.53 lakhs), and the top-end SEL comes to 39,990 BRL (INR 10.77 lakhs).

The new Ka will replace the Figo when it comes to India next year. The hatchback will enter production at Ford's upcoming Sanand facility in Gujarat, likely from April 2015.
