Ahead of a launch that is reported to take place before the end of August, the new Ford Ka hatchback and Ka+ sedan were spotted on a delivery truck hinting that Ford has commenced dealer dispatch of the new cars.
Based on an extensively modified platform of the Figo, the new Ka twins were designed and developed by Ford Brazil. The detailed specifications of these cars are unannounced, but it is known that power will come from a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine producing 85 bhp and 107 Nm of torque, or a 1.5-liter four-cylinder motor making 111 bhp. The engines have a flex-fuel feature allowing them to run on gasoline and ethanol.
In India, the new Ka will launch as a successor to the Ford Figo next year. The Ka+ will be modified for India to fit under the sub-4 meter length, and will also launch next year replacing the Ford Classic. Both cars will be made at Ford's upcoming Sanand factory in Gujarat, with start of production set at April 1, 2015.
