Jaguar India announced that it has launched the India-assembled Jaguar XJ diesel at a base price of INR 92.1 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai, pre Octroi). Two variants of the XJ will be made in India - Premium Luxury and Portfolio.
The vehicles are assembled at JLR's small facility in Chikhli, Pune, where the Land Rover Freelander 2 and the Jaguar XF are also made.
New features of the 2014 Jaguar XJ include upgraded rear seat comfort pack with three massage functions, enhanced rear headroom, electrically operated rear side window blinds, LED reading lamps, 10.2-inch screens on the front seat backs and a new rear business table.
The XJ diesel is powered by a 3-liter six-cylinder engine that develops 275 PS @ 4,000 RPM and 600 Nm @ 2,000 RPM. It is paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and has a top speed of 250 kph. The fuel economy is rated at 12.9 kmpl.
The XJ is also available with a 2-liter petrol engine that develops 240 PS @ 5,500 RPM and 340 Nm @ 1,750 RPM, matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission, not assembled in India yet. Its fuel economy is rated at 9.4 kmpl.
Both fuel variants come only in the long wheelbase configuration.
