Posted on: Nov 7, 2013 - 2:47pm IST

The Honda Urban SUV concept was unveiled in January this year at the Detroit Motor Show. At the time of the unveil, Honda announced that the production version would be showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show which commences for the media on the 20th of this month.

Just weeks prior to its formal launch, we find leaked patent drawings of the production spec crossover, posted by Joke For Blog.

Honda Urban SUV patent leak front and rear
Honda’s Duster rival is very close to the concept car.

Based on these leaks, we find that the production Urban SUV is just the concept with productionised wheels, wing mirrors and headlights. In fact, the headlights of the Urban SUV resemble that of the new CR-V, while the sloping window line reminds us of the previous generation CR-V.

We expect the Urban SUV to launch in India next year or in early 2015.

The rear-door handle is located on the window sill and the crease line blends in with the window line neatly. The front fascia of the Urban SUV sports Honda’s new “EXCITING H DESIGN!!!”, and the ‘solid wing face’ that we see on the 2014 Honda Jazz.

The City’s 1.5-liter petrol engine and the Amaze’s 1.5-liter diesel engine are no-brainers for this SUV.

Speaking of the Jazz, the Urban SUV is using the same platform as that of the 2014 Jazz, with an overall length in the whereabouts of 4.3 meters. The Urban SUV will be a global model for Honda with sales expected to start inĀ Asia, Europe, South America and North America next year.

The Urban SUV is underpinned by the Jazz platform, so expect more than respectable fuel efficiency and interior flexibility.

India could get the Urban SUV late next year or by early 2015, and we anticipate a diesel engine in addition to a petrol motor. Expect to hear more about the Urban SUV in the coming days.

The design looks very premium and doesnt look like its made to compare with the ECOSPORT, DUSTER, TERRANO

its based on the jazz platform definately has to be priced higher to the current available options

If Honda like always prooves a VALUE FOR MONEY PROPOSITION along with there IDTEC engine this will be a sure hit.

It probably would be launched in mid 2015 by then i am sure DUSTER , ES would have gone through a major facelift

This can be compared to ix35/tucson , korrando

Looks like HONDA has a WINNER!!!

Eco-Sport, DUSTER Beware HONDA is Coming!!!

  3. Ganesh says:

    This’s a beauty! Looks Gorgeous.

  4. Amala Singh says:

This will be success only if this is a sub 4 mtr. and priced slightly above ecosport.

    1. Ganesh says:

This looks a proper SUV and ES is a tall hatch marketed as SUV!. This cannot be under 4 m and will take on Duster and likes.

  5. smax says:

Looks Spot on. Honda, get this before the jazz.

  6. Pandi says:

I bet it! this will be massive hit of HONDA in india, good for five adults, Best fit in car parks (now a days this is also an issue), good boot space (400+), magic seat fold etc,

Duster only get top score in ride quality, but We expect that the Honda SU-V will get Full score (100%) in all aspects.

Good luck to SU-V to succeed!

  7. Deepak Chablani says:

From the sketches, I wouldn’t say the design is mind blowing like the new generation Jazz or Honda City….its just neat and well proportioned.

The biggest plus for me is that the mini SUV from Honda is not a sub 4 metre cramped box like the Ecosport…its about 4.3 metres in length and with Honda’s incredible space management skills, expect the SUV to have class leading interior space and boot, ideal for Indian families. Looks like its more in the Duster/ Terrano league.
