Ford EcoSport to launch on June 11?

Posted on: May 25, 2013 - 5:49pm IST

According to a report on Autojunction.in, the Ford EcoSport will launch on June 11. After unveiling the car at the 2012 Auto Expo, nearly a year and a half ago, Ford seems to be finally ready to bring it to the market.

The EcoSport’s media drive was conducted in Goa this month where Ford officials finally revealed details such as the technical specifications of the car, the trim levels it would come in and the features list. Ford SYNC and the emergency assistance were also detailed during the event.

Parallely, Ford has been conducting a marketing campaign called the ‘EcoSport Urban Discoveries’. Ford officials had earlier said that the car would be launched after the Urban Discoveries program concluded, sometime in June.

A sluggish passenger car market and steadily declining sales are reasons why Ford India badly need the EcoSport to deliver.

The Ford EcoSport will go on sale with three engine choices from Day 1. The base variant of the car would be powered by a 1.5-liter four cylinder petrol engine, also available on the new Fiesta. This engine will be offered with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed dual clutch gearbox.

Moving higher up, the EcoSport will be offered with the 1.0-liter three cylinder EcoBoost engine. The EcoBoost engine will be offered only in the top-end trim levels Titanium and the Titanium Plus. A 5-speed manual is the sole transmission option.

The 1.5-liter diesel engine also coming from the new Fiesta will form the more expensive (and sought after) model which also comes only with a 5-speed manual transmission.

Strongly agree with all the comments, having tracked EcoSPort so closely for last 9 months, i had a chance to look at the vehicle at Mantri Mall Bangalore.
Immediately after that purchased Renault Duster.

Its a replacement for the small car segment, YES looks are great but inner space is cramped and definitely a NO.
If the price is b/w 5 to 6 lakhs it will catch up momentum any thing beyond 9 lakhs on road will be failure for Ford.

How I wish Ford would have maintained larger dimension at 4.3m+ and priced at 12Lakh+ on road.
Duster would have had big challenge.

Totally agree …..if ES has been launched a few months back than it would have scored a massive hit in the market
..and nw market is taken by Chevrolet,Honda ,Renault, maruti and mahindra …..if price tag if ES is between 5-8 lac then only they have a chance of getting it back …..

Playing with patience of prospective customer, is a very big risk in this World. Research say the today’s people have very less patience then their counter part few decades back.

14th July 2012 was launch date of EcoSport in Brazil, since then Ford is playing with patience. Everyday a new story, launching now, launching today, launching next month and so on. Is ford team working to make EcoSport a success or a fail. Are they working for Ford ? Giving ample time to competition to arrange their counter attack ?

I think EcoSport launched 8-6 months back could have made a lot of impact. No doubt, it will hit numbers and will earn praise. But the level of success which they could have got by launching it 8-6 months back and now will be, a lot different. They have given ample time to their competition to work.

Absolutely! Ive read so many updates for months together . Now I seem to know the Ecosport like the palm of my hand. Im bored stiff. The space inside is cramped. Nothing like what a SUV is expected to deliver. Maybe the Nissan Duster launch in Diwali will have better rear seat space than the Renault Duster…..or the ES.

We are all bored of ecosport updates now. Even the ford’s urban discoveries campaign is stupid attempt to keep the propective customers waiting more and more.
Now there is dedinately a big NO to ecosport due such long delay in its launch. Now the model to be launchef looks very familier and people bored of it.
