Bajaj will launch the Ninja 250R soon, the Bajaj Pulsar 220 just underwent a minor surgery and HH Karizma is coming out with new features and possibly with FI technology. With a heap of motorbikes in this category, Yamaha should bring in the Fazer 250, shouldn’t they?
They don’t think so.
Is this wait and watch strategy or is the company keeping developments under wraps and away from prying eyes?
- Yukimine Tsuji, managing director and chief executive officer, India Yamaha Motor -
“We are not thinking of launching a bike in that (225-250 cc) range this festival season”
- Sanjay Tripathi, division head of product planning and brand management of Yamaha -
“We will launch a bike that would not only be the fastest in India, but it would be the fastest in the world.”
Both the above gentlemen operate out of the same office. I think. The fastest bike in the world could be the Yamaha R1, but haven’t Yamaha already launched this motorcycle in India? Or could it be a new version?
The company, according to Tripathi, will launch two new models by the middle of September, but he refused to divulge more details.

They can launch any BIKES of any cc and no company Engin is powerful as yamaha…
It is unlikely that yamaha will come up with something like 250 so soon. Looking at its past record in India, it took ages to go from 100 to 150 cc. Fz16, FZ-S and Fazer 150 (all having same engine) were released after a seemingly never ending wait.
It is imagined that their stingyness with cc’s in India will continue and to go from 150-250 cc, they might take a decade, frustrating their customers in the process.
Having said the above, of course yamaha is selling bikes like R1 and MT in India but those are imported ones for which the buyer has to pay 110% duty…something that the Indian govt. doesnt deserve.

@bkebhp – isn’t the R15 formed using the R1 DNA? Another Fazer variant – With full cowl?
It is still speculated that Yamaha will launch two new bikes late this month, it would be another variant of its Fazer series and one from R1 DNA. The launch may get delayed by a month here & there but Yamaha will surely come-up with this competition.
in my opinion I don’t think yamaha wud be launching any new bike this year.they might launch an upgraded version of R15 but not until early next year.it cud be that they don’t want to disclose anything until ninja and the new zma is launched.
