IAB Report - India-bound 2014 Honda Jazz launched in Indonesia, Philippines and NZ

Honda, over the course of this week, launched the all new 2014 Jazz in three markets - Philippines, Indonesia and New Zealand. Here's a brief overview of the car in the respective markets.

2014 Honda Jazz in Philippines

The Jazz in Philippines is available in a total of four variants, all getting power from a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 120 PS and 145 Nm of torque. The base variant gets a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the rest use a CVT. Driver and front passenger airbags, ABS and EBD are standard across all variants, and HSA (Hill Start Assist) and VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) are seen on the top-end variants. The range topping model gets side airbags and side curtain airbags in addition to this.

The Jazz in Philippines is priced from 768,000 PHP (INR 10.54 lakhs).

For New Zealand, all variants get 6 airbags as standard.

In New Zealand, the Jazz went on sale with a 1.3-liter four-cylinder petrol engine making 98 hp and 119 Nm of torque, and a 1.5-liter engine with 130 hp and 155 Nm of torque. The more powerful engine is offered with a CVT and a 6-speed manual transmission, but the 1.3 gets only a CVT.

All variants get HSA, ABS, EBD, 6 airbags, keyless entry, a 7-inch LCD touchscreen display with Bluetooth and AUX-in, electric wing mirrors and alloy wheels. The top-end variants get City Brake Assist, cruise control, larger alloy wheels, LED headlights, engine starter button and automatic climate control. The Jazz is priced between 23,700 to 30,900 NZ dollars (INR 12.51 to INR 16.32 lakhs).

Like Philippines, the Indonesian Jazz gets the 1.5-liter engine producing 120 PS and 145 Nm of torque. Launched in variants of Type A, Type S and Type RS, a 5-speed manual and CVT are the gearboxes of choice. All variants of the car come with dual front airbags as standard. The prices range from 199 million IDR to 248 million IDR (INR 9.96 lakhs to INR 12.31 lakhs).

The new Jazz is announced to go on sale in India in this financial year. The launch will likely take place early next year. For the Indian model, the 1.2-liter petrol engine and the 1.5-liter diesel engine would be used.
