Hero Xtreme 200R to launch pan India in August; Bookings yet to open

Hero MotoCorp will launch the Xtreme 200R across India in August, according to our dealer sources. The Hero Xtreme 200R is currently available only in the North Eastern states and West Bengal at a price of INR 88,000 (ex-showroom). The motorcycle is expected to receive similar pricing once it is launched pan India.

While the company is yet to officially launch the Hero Xtreme 200R in all parts of India, dealerships in Mumbai have put bookings on hold until the company directs them to do so. The Hero Xtreme 200R made its Indian premiere at the Auto Expo 2016, while the company unveiled the production version in February 2018. The Xtreme 200R competes in the 200 cc segment with the likes of TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and the Bajaj Pulsar NS200, both of which costs higher than the Xtreme.

Powering the Hero Xtreme 200R is a 199.6 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 4-stroke, two-valve engine that is capable of tuned to produce a maximum power of 18.1 bhp at 8,000 rpm while developing a peak torque of 17.1 Nm of 6,500 rpm. A 5-speed transmission transfers control to the wheel via a final chain drive setup.

The Hero Xtreme 200R employs a diamond-type chassis that uses the engine as a stressed member. Suspension components include 37 mm telescopic forks with antifriction bush at the front along with a 7-step adjustable mono-shock at the back. Anchorage comes from a 276 mm disc at the front and a 220 mm disc at the rear while single-channel ABS is standard.

The Hero Xtreme 200R features a semi-digital instrument console with an analogue tachometer. The motorcycle comes shod with 17-inch alloy wheels that wrap to a 100-section front and a 130-section rear tubeless MRF tires. Dimensionally, the Xtreme 200R measures at 2062 mm in length, 778 mm in width and 1072 mm in height, while it features a seat height of 795 mm.

The Xtreme 200R gets a wheelbase of 1338 mm and a ground clearance of 165 mm. The motorcycle comes with a kerb weight of 148 kg, while it gets a fuel tank capacity of 12.5 litres.
