Following first sightings in Brazil this month, the Ford Figo facelift has been spotted in India for the first time. The images by CarandBike appear to be that of a new crossover variant that could be added to the lineup with the launch of the facelift.
The test unit finished in Oxford White wears heavy camouflage. Upon close inspection, images reveal a narrower front grille that sits lower as compared the current model. Also, the headlamps seem new as well, which along with the new grille, will bring it in line with Ford's latest family look as seen on new products such as the 2017 Ford Fiesta.
Body armour starting from the lower lip of the front bumper runs around the wheel arches to the rear bumper indicating that Ford will introduce the Ford Figo Active variant in India in 2018. It sports dark 6-spoke alloy wheels as well. Despite the camouflage, large roof rails and reprofiled tail lamps with smoked effect are evident.
Ford is expected to add new features and tinker with the dashboard design in the mid-cycle action. A touchscreen unit with SYNC 3 support will be added according to an earlier report. An updated instrument console, a new steering wheel design, and new seat upholstery could be a part of the updates on the 2018 Ford Figo.
Reports also suggest that a smaller sibling of the 1.5 L Dragon petrol that will power the Ford EcoSport facelift displacing 1.2 L will replace the 1,196 cc four-cylinder Ti-VCT unit. The Ford Figo facelift diesel is likely to continue using the 1.5 L TDCi unit.
The Ford Figo facelift could arrive sometime next year along with the Aspire facelift. Ford is also working on brand new premium hatchback and sedan models (B563), scheduled to arrive around 2020.
