The new derivative of the Ford Ka (Ford Figo/Ford Ka+) is expected to go on sale in Brazil later this year, with prices starting at R$48,790 (INR 10,58,618.27).
The Ford Ka Trail is a crossover-styled variant of the Ford Ka. It gets an adventurous look with a higher ground clearance, darkened 15-inch alloy wheels, integrated roof rails and faux silver skid plates. The Trail variant features grey stickers with “TRAIL” branding also on the sides and the trunk lid, as well as black door mirrors and door handles. The production model skips the black plastic cladding around the wheel arches.
The interior of the Ford Ka Trail is yet to be revealed in a production-spec avatar. The model showcased in Sao Paulo last year had sport pedals, leather seats with contrasting stitching in orange and green and door sills with “TRAIL” logo.
The Ford Ka Trail buyers will likely get to choose from two engines: 1.0-litre TiVCT and 1.5-litre Sigma, both paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. The 1.0-litre engine produces 80 CV (80 hp) and 100 Nm of torque/85 CV (85 hp) and 105 Nm of torque running on petrol/ethanol. The 1.5-litre engine develops 105 CV (105 hp) and 143 Nm of torque/110 CV (110 hp) and 146 Nm of torque running on petrol/ethanol. In Brazil, the 1.5L model is expected to retail at R$52,790 (INR 11,45,408.05).
The Ford Ka Trail may hit the Indian market in the name of Ford Figo Cross, a potential Chevrolet Beat Activ rival. Nigel Harris, former President & MD of Ford India told IAB in January last year that the idea of a Figo Cross is appealing.
