Update - Shifting Gears has uploaded spyshots of a camouflaged Tata Nexon possibly sporting the Red body colour of the Nexon 'Geneva Edition' unveiled in March. Tata Motors dealers have said that the company could advance the launch to late-August or September to cash in on the positive sentiment of car buyers post GST price cuts.
July 6, 2017 -
Launch expected in October.
As Tata Motors continues road testing the Tata Nexon, more spy shots of the compact SUV have emerged on the web. Team-BHP forum member GreenmachinE recently spotted test mules of the Tata Nexon in Salem, Tamil Nadu.
The Tata Nexon is the fourth model after the Tata Tiago, Tata Hexa and Tata Tigor created using the 'IMPACT' design language to hit the market and will mark the company's entry into the sub-4 metre SUV segment. The Tata Nexon would go up against the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Honda WR-V and Ford EcoSport in the domestic market. The sub-compact SUV measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,811 mm in width and 1,607 mm in height, has a wheelbase of 2,498 mm and a ground clearance of 200 mm.
The Tata Nexon won't utilise the AMP or the Q platform but repurpose the X1 platform that underpins the Tata Zest. Its engine options will include an all-new 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel unit producing 110 PS and 260 Nm of torque. The petrol Nexon will have a new 1.2-litre Revotron turbocharged mill under the hood, although recently it was reported that the company will sell the SUV only with a diesel engine at launch. Transmission choices should include 5-speed manual, 6-speed automated manual and 6-speed manual.
