Range Rover Velar to launch in India in November - Report

Earlier this year it was reported that the Range Rover Velar would reach India in the second half of 2017. In the latest, Rohit Suri, Managing Director and President, Jaguar Land Rover India, reveals in an interview to The Economic Times that the luxury SUV's launch will be done in November.

The Range Rover Velar is the fourth addition to the Range Rover sub-brand. Filling the white space between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport, the Range Rover Velar competes with the BMW X6 and the Mercedes GLE Coupe.

The Range Rover Velar measures 4,803 mm in length, 2,032 mm (mirrors folded)/2,145 mm (mirrors out) in width and 1,665 mm in height, has a wheelbase of 2,874 mm and offers a ground clearance of 213 mm (251 mm with electronic air suspension). It is based on the Jaguar F-Pace's aluminium-intensive IQ platform and available internationally with five engines: 250 PS 2.0-litre Ingenium four-cylinder petrol, 380 3.0-litre supercharged V6 petrol, 180 PS 2.0-litre Ingenium four-cylinder diesel, 240 PS 2.0-litre Ingenium four-cylinder diesel and 300 PS 3.0-litre V6 diesel. 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system are standard. A 300 PS Ingenium petrol engine will join the list of engine options later this year.

Billed as the most car-like Range Rover to the date, the Range Rover Velar is available with full Matrix-Laser LED headlights with signature daytime running lights, flush deployable door handles, 22-inch wheels, LED tail lights, digital instrument cluster with a 12.3-inch HD display, 20-way adjustable driver/passenger memory seats with massage and heating/cooling functions, Touch Pro Duo infotainment system which integrates two 10-inch HD touchscreens and 1,600-watt, 23-speaker Meridian Signature Sound audio system.

International markets get the Velar in S, SE, HSE, R-Dynamic S, R-Dynamic SE and R-Dynamic HSE specification packs.

The Range Rover Velar will arrive in India as a CBU model, with prices probably starting between INR 70 lakh and INR 1 crore (ex-showroom). Dealerships have reportedly commenced bookings unofficially.
