Mahindra XUV500 set to receive its second facelift.
Last month, it was reported that the Mahindra XUV500 will receive another facelift following the major refresh in 2015, but there were no details on its launch here, until today. According to Mr Rajan Wadhera, Executive VP, R&D and Global Product Development, Mahindra (Automotive Sector), the Mahindra XUV500 will receive its second facelift this year.
While the facelifted Mahindra Scorpio’s spy shots have surfaced on the web, we are yet to see pre-production examples of the facelifted Mahindra XUV500 hit roads for testing, so we are unclear about the sort of changes Mahindra will roll out. It may include tweaking the headlamps, bumpers, grille, tail lamps and redesigned alloy wheels, as well as new colour options too.
Apart from changing the colour combination and feature list, the Mahindra XUV500’s interior design was retained in the first facelift. So expect Mahindra to bring substantial improvements with the new facelift. New colour theme, upholstery and accents could give another refresh to the cabin. Besides that, Mahindra could also bring a new steering wheel, revised instrument panel and some minor changes to the centre console. Mahindra hasn’t spoken about any of the planned changes yet, though.
Currently, Mahindra XUV500 is available with the 1.99-litre mHawk diesel engine (exclusive to Delhi NCR) that produces 140 hp and 320 Nm of torque, and the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that produces 140 hp and 330 Nm of torque. The 2.2-litre unit will reportedly get its power tuned up to 170 hp, which could mean the fuel economy figure (6MT – 16 km/l, 6AT – 13.85 km/l) may see a slight drop. Mahindra could integrate the Intelli-Hybrid mild-hybrid tech in the SUV with the second facelift.
