Mahindra XUV500 expected to get a second minor facelift.
According to an Autocar India report, the Mahindra XUV500 is expected to receive a second minor facelift and a more powerful version of the current 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine to boot. IAB speculates the update could come in the MY2018 XUV500 next year.
The turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine produces 103 kW (140 hp) and 3,750 rpm and 330 Nm of torque from 1,600 rpm to 2,800 rpm and sends power to either the front wheels or all wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission or an Aisin-sourced 6-speed automatic transmission. Mahindra will tune up this motor to deliver 170 hp.
It is unknown if the upgrade will see the torque figure rising. The substantial power upgrade could have an effect on the fuel economy (MT - 16 km/l, AT - 13.85 km/l) of the 2018 Mahindra XUV500, but to an extent can be balanced if the powertrain employs mild-hybrid tech which was expected with the yearly refresh.
