India-bound (Maruti) S-Cross facelift released in China

Indian launch coming this festival season.

The 2017 (Maruti) Suzuki S-Cross introduced last year is now set to go on sale in China. Autohome.com.cn has published images of the facelifted model which was spotted at a local dealership recently. Sales of the new model are reported to commence in the country in July.

The new model's face comprises slightly reshaped, LED headlamps with new graphics and integrated LED daytime running lights, newly-designed radiator grille with vertical chrome slats and chrome surround and restyled bumper. On the sides, double six-spoke alloy wheels are seen. At the rear, the tweaked tail lamps have LED lighting.

The Chinese-spec 2017 Suzuki S-Cross will sell with features like engine stop-start system, panoramic sunroof, keyless entry, cruise control, paddle shifters, new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with rear view camera input, reverse parking sensors and ESP. The Chinese publication's report suggests that the 1.6-litre G-INNOTEC VVT and 1.4-litre BOOSTERJET engines will continue as before. The 1.6-litre engine produces 90 kW (120.64 hp) and 158 Nm of torque, while 1.4-litre engine develops 103 kW (138.07 hp) and 220 Nm of torque.

The 2017 Maruti S-Cross will reportedly go on sale in India around Diwali (October-November 2017). The current model is available only with (88.51 hp 1.3-litre DDiS 200 and 118.01 hp 1.6-litre DDiS 320) diesel engines and (5- and 6-speed) manual transmissions, but the new model could have an option for a 1.5-litre petrol engine and an automatic transmission. Availability of a petrol engine option would lower the entry price point from current INR 8,07,061 (ex-showroom Delhi).
