Based on the Duster RXS grade.
Renault India had already confirmed the launch of a Renault Duster petrol automatic version but didn't divulge much technical information.
Zigwheels has now acquired more info on the Renault Duster petrol automatic. It will be priced at INR 10.3 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) and based on the new 'RXS' grade, which slots between RXL and RXZ. It will borrow the smaller 1.5L 4-cyl petrol engine and CVT combo from the Nissan Sunny/Renault Scala, which produces 101 PS and 134 Nm of peak torque.
It's interesting to see Renault go for such an option given that the 1.6L petrol engine already sold in India with a manual gearbox is available with a 6-speed EDC in other markets, but would've been an expensive proposition. Borrowing the powertrain from the Nissan Sunny/Renault Scala seemed to work out better, with respect to competitive pricing, as seen in the pricing reported by Zigwheels.
If the pricing is true, it undercuts both the ex-showroom prices of the Honda BR-V CVT (INR 12.26 Lakhs) and Hyundai Creta 1.6 petrol SX+ Auto (INR 12.99 Lakhs), as well as being just INR 30,000 more expensive than the Ford EcoSport 1.5 AT (INR 9.99 Lakhs).
