Expected to arrive as a CBU import.

The third-gen Nissan X-Trail was showcased at Auto Expo 2016 and was planned to hit the Indian market last year. However, the launch was later reportedly postponed to early 2017. As per a fresh report from The Economic Times, the Nissan X-Trail is still India-bound and will go on sale later this year.

The Nissan X-Trail Hybrid will likely have a pricing of over 30 lakh as it won't benefit from the FAME India Scheme.

The third-gen Nissan X-Trail is already mid-way through its lifecycle and received a facelift. Nissan India will offer this SUV only in the Hybrid variant, powered by the MR20DD 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine petrol engine that produces 108 kW (147 PS) and 207 Nm of torque and the RM31 electric motor that generates 30 kW (41 PS) and 160 Nm of torque. It offers a fuel economy of 20.6 km/l (2WD)/20.0 km/l (4WD) in the JDM-spec version.

In other news, Nissan India won't launch the fifth-gen European Nissan Micra that went on sale last month. Contradictory to speculations until last year, the new model still uses the V-platform of the fourth-gen model sold in India, but still, it's given a skip for India.

Beginning next year, Nissan India will focus only on premium cars while sister brand Datsun will sell the entry-level, low-cost cars. "We want to bring in slightly upper market SUVs and cars," Nissan India Guillaume Sicard. "We want to position Nissan as a high technology brand. Compact market is not the main focus for Nissan in India," he added.
