Will slot between the Eon and the Grand i10.
ET Auto reports that the new Hyundai Santo will launch in India in H2 2018. This is inline with a report from last year stating that a launch in 2018 was planned.
Filling the gap left by the Hyundai i10, the new Hyundai Santro will offer a choice between two petrol engines at launch: a 1.1-litre iRDE and 1.2-litre Kappa engine. Both engines will be paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, while an AMT could also be in the cards, given that there are reports of Hyundai developing one for its entry level models.
According to info provided by a source close to its development last year, the new Hyundai Santro will, apparently, lose its characteristic tall boy design for a younger and sleeker styling. It's unclear whether Hyundai will take inspiration from the Renault Kwid and make it look like a crossover, or stick to the regular hatchback styling.

When launched, the new Hyundai Santro will rival the Tata Tiago, Maruti Celerio, Maruti Wagon R, Datsun GO and the next gen Chevrolet Beat.
