Lexus is launching today in India with three vehicles: Lexus ES, Lexus RX and Lexus LX. According to a fresh report from Autocar India, the Lexus LX will start at a whopping INR 2.3 crore (ex-showroom Mumbai).
Those in the know of the Lexus brand will tell you that the Lexus LX is a mechanical twin of the Toyota Land Cruiser 200. The Toyota version retails for almost half of what the Lexus version costs, at INR 1.3 crore (ex-showroom Delhi).
The base model is the LX 450d, and above that, LX customers will get a choice of the LX 570 model, the pricing for which is still awaited. The LX 570 starts at JPY 11,000,000 (INR 64,72,594) in Japan and at US$89,880 (INR 58,86,691) in the USA. Expect the Indian-spec LX 570 to cost roughly four times what it costs in Japan.
The Lexus LX 450d is powered by the same 1VD-FTV 4.5-litre V8 diesel engine as the Toyota Land Cruiser 200. This engine produces 195 kW (261.35 hp) at 3,400 rpm and 650 Nm of torque between 1,600 rpm to 2,600 rpm and sends power to all four wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission. The Lexus LX 570 gets the 3UR-FE 5.7-litre V8 petrol engine that develops 270 kW (361.93 hp) at 5,600 rpm and 530 Nm of torque at 3,200 rpm. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Noteworthy features of the Lexus LX include LED headlights, LED cornering lamps, LED front fog lights, LED tail lights, 20-inch alloy wheels, power adjustable front seats, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Rear Seat Entertainment with 8-inch displays, four-zone climate control and 19-speaker Mark Levinson audio system.
